Shagbook advertises itself as one of the hottest online personals and dating environments available on the internet today – a tall claim indeed! The site provides users with a range of different features, all of which are intended to make the process of getting in touch with other members interesting and exciting. Users can build photo profiles to attract interest from others by uploading as many saucy photos as they can manage. When you find the perfect match on the site, you can contact them by email or send them a quick ‘flirt’ to let them know you’re interested in getting to know them better. One of the best features on Shagbook is that users can keep their own ‘Dating Diary’ (that can either be kept private or published to your profile like a blog) – a great way to let others know what you’re really like and what you’re into.
Although Shagbook does offer some great features and contact with a number of sexy singles, there are a few problems that we encountered when we were reviewing the site that affect the overall experience. Firstly, it doesn’t feature an instant messaging function (a feature that has largely become commonplace within adult personals and dating sites) meaning users are limited to contacting other users by email. Although for some users, this isn’t such a big deal, we feel it is a major letdown for Shagbook. Secondly, the site doesn’t support gay and lesbian users, as it does not permit members to enter ‘men interested in men’ or ‘women interested in women’ as part of their registration details. Finally, it certainly lacks some of the professionalism displayed on other sites, with its appearance, structure and navigation being a little rough around the edges. Whilst we’re willing to accept that not every site is up to Adult Friend Finder or Adult XXX Date quality, this site is hardly the cheapest we have reviewed, so we really feel these issues should be addressed.
Shagbook members can enjoy many of the site’s features free of charge, but in order to unlock full access to Shagbook and everything that is on offer, users must upgrade to premium membership. At its most expensive, this costs around £15 a month, although members who decide to opt for an annual membership will only pay £5.42 per month.
