Editor's Verdict:

As a site devoted to allowing its members to find illicit affairs with married people in the UK and Ireland only, we were a little disappointed by what this site offered, especially considering how much it costs to join. Gold Membership for 30 days costs a staggering £119, with only a small discount to those bold enough to go for 75 days (£229). This is an extremely high membership fee compared to many of the other adult dating sites we've reviewed. We certainly advise you to spend a lot of time on this site’s standard membership before you decide to commit to gold membership.

There were also some other issues with this site. Although it only takes around three minutes to register, and there is a profile wizard which makes the process a lot simpler, we were a little dismayed by how few members appear to be on the site. At one point, there were just 300 members online, at a peak time, which is a tiny figure compared to some of the other sites we have reviewed. Also, the profile wizard does not allow members to indicate that they are male-looking-for-male, or female-looking-for-female, which presumably means that users who are interested in such extramarital relationships are in the wrong place with IllicitEncounters.com. Similarly, when it comes to indicating your relationship status, single is also not an option – suggesting the site is open only to heterosexual, married users.

Even with so few active members, a good search feature is essential to any dating site being useful in actually finding a date. Sadly, this site doesn't do well on this front either. There are just three simple search functions – which are essentially combinations of the same criteria; gender, age, county, photo only. Compared to our experiences of most other sites, these options won’t really help users to get the most out of their membership fees and have the best opportunity at meeting the perfect person for an illicit encounter.

It’s always great to come across sites devoted to the UK and Ireland, because they are perfect for allowing UK users to get the most out of their membership fees (as most users cannot travel to the US too often if they come across someone they want to meet up with!). This site, however, is really quite disappointing. Standard membership comes with almost everything however, so if you do want to try it out, we would suggest not upgrading unless you are sure this site is for you. We would suggest that, for considerably smaller subscription fees, our highest rated site in this category, would provide a much better opportunity to meet someone for the perfect hook-up, even though it is a global site.
