You can still e-mail your interests, but the convenience and safety of the live chat and instant messenger options are hard to beat. These are your main ways for determining if the members you are interested in will be to your liking and vice-versa.

Aside from the convenience aspect, the safety advantages of using site-based chat and instant messengers are that you don't have to give any personal info before you're ready. We were a bit unhappy with the results: 36 members' listings came back with 12 members who were on the site within the past week. That's a good percentage of active members and we saw that nine of those had a listing photo. The ratio of members not on-site recently with photos was similar. Another 4 had "private only photos" - a common occurrence on sites that offer that option. We're not too convinced that the number of loosely qualified members will be enough for the site to be considered "effective". We would have liked a somewhat narrower search, but that isn't offered at the basic level. This may be an attempt to conceal a small membership count. Although the total size of membership of MarriedButLonely is not stated on the site, it is estimated to be less than 40,000. The listings generated by our benchmark search certainly imply that the membership base is relatively small.

The listings generated by our search had the following components: members' username, personal tag line, age, sex, what they're looking for, private photos count, location, and distance. The photo quality was very good - typical of adult dating sites. Basic members can't access enlargements or photos outside of the listing version. Premium members can post up to 16 photos including 8 for private viewing. Profiles were accessible and contained a well sectioned approach. The emphasis was on the member's sexuality and how they would like to express it, i.e. one-on-one, couples etc. Overall, MarriedButLonely.com does this well, but we would like to see an enlargement feature for Basic members as the listing photos are on the small side.

In the Special Features department, Married But Lonely doesn't have any innovative tools but they do a good job of providing the essentials, and with the webcam-based members and third party cam feeds this site will keep the members occupied with "X" Rated choices that rival all but our top rated sites.
