Editor's Verdict:

My-FBuddy.com is an adult dating site geared for members in the US with a sizable contingent of members in the UK, and South Africa. Its is a sister site to MaritalAffair.co.uk (a UK site), sharing many features and portions of their database as well. My-FBuddy has a diverse mix of ages and interests with couples and singles alike looking for partners. With its substantial membership and simple approach for helping you find your partners, you could be contacting and meeting up with a local 'FBuddy' sooner than you think.

My-FBuddy's approach is different than most US-based sites. The features list is short and is indicative of their simple, no-nonsense approach for adult dating. The membership seems to appreciate the way the site is administered - judging by the memberships' profile information (many seem to be regulars). The membership is experienced and outgoing, but not as overtly aggressive as at some other US locations. The term "confidently assertive" fits well for this membership.

The list of features available here is minimal compared to most of the biggest names in this category. My-FBuddy.com's very basic group of features is dominated by the on-site e-mail system - an absolute necessity for dating sites of any kind to function. The other features available read like the extras list of most big sites, with functional items like: an ignore folder, favorites list, who's checked your profile, SMS messaging, and interest filters. With no live communication options available (such as chat rooms or instant messenger), the site's e-mail functions as the only way to truly communicate with your interests. That wouldn't be our preference but, somehow, My-FBuddy has managed to gather a reasonable number of members who are active with one another, despite the lack of on-site communication tools.

The site has nothing particularly noteworthy for Basic (free) members, except for the opportunity to look around a bit, search the sites database for prospects, check their photo, their profile and, if interested, send them a 'wink'. We'd venture to speculate here that My-FBuddy.com is more focused on getting some action for the premium members than on appealing to the interests of newbies. My-FBuddy has seen success at their sibling site, MaritalAffair.co.uk with a minimalist approach and seem to be trying to utilize that same approach in the US as well. There is a large, active UK membership with tens of thousands of members checking in on the site daily. Whether it will be embraced by the American market remains to be seen.

The core function of adult dating sites is the member search. Our benchmark search at My-FBuddy.com came up with 28 local listings. Of those, 17 had photos. The listings' photos were good and we were happy to see that the listing photo auto-enlarged when clicked on. The profiles were very good with full access by basic members. The only way to contact your interests was through "winks" or by purchasing a Premium membership. With My-FBuddy.com, we didn't see an overwhelming number of member listings in local searches that we witnessed in our UK search of MaritalAffair.co.uk. This may indicate that My-FBuddy's approach is more appealing to residents of the UK than to Americans. You would have to see what type of results you get in a search of your area to confirm the site's usefulness.

Our overall impression of My-FBuddy.com is that it's a good site but is not on a par with its UK sibling site, MaritalAffair.co.uk, because it lacks concentrated, serious-minded members. The UK version's members are actively involved. That's a huge factor that goes some way towards making up for the lack of dating-friendly features. The American adult dating market's different set of expectations makes for a tough sale for a functional but relatively featureless site. For Americans, more is better. This site may be better with less, (as it is in the UK), but until its US-based members decide to adopt that approach, it may be destined to flounder in the US.

When it comes to value for money, the site is also below average. The Premium membership is not buying good utility past the e-mail function. With other US-based sites charging less and / or giving much more, its value is relatively diminished.

Our recommendation is to check the results of a basic search and see if you find enough prospects to be interested near your locale (at least 20-30 members). If satisfied, consider an upgrade. If not, then try one of our top rated adult dating sites. There's lots of good stuff available at a fair price, you just have to find the right mix of like-minded members by doing a bit more homework.
