I was curious whether these things worked or not, so I signed up for a 'regular' (non-paying membership) with XXX Blackbook. I posted a profile and then immediately began receiving many contacts, supposedly from real people. Their messages were provocative and enticing. Of course, with these websites, a member cannot respond to any of the messages unless they upgrade. So, I upgraded and then responded to each message. After I upgraded, I did not receive ONE SINGLE response and further, I did not receive any additional messages from new people. I highly doubt if the messages I received were from real people at all. Who ever these people are, if they are real people at all as opposed to auto-response programs, their purpose is to get people to upgrade to a paid membership -- and of course, there is no cancellation, once you have paid. I kind of suspected that this would happen, but I wanted to find out for myself and the money I paid is inconsequential. I suspect that this is the case with all of these kinds of websites, but I am not going to spend any more money to find out.
In summary, I would not recommend XXX Black Book to a friend.
