Saucy Dates is an adult dating website with members who aren’t shy to express their fantasies and desires. It’s especially suited to members who enjoy voyeurism or exhibitionism, fetishes and S&M. There’s a community chat room where you can get to know members, plus you can explain your whims and longings on your profile page.
Signing up is relatively quick, although you can’t skip the process. You are provided with a series of choices (location, sexuality and so on), plus a box or two for you to write about yourself. Once this is over, you are provided with a list of potential matches. It's free to join, and there appear to be no upgrade options.
SaucyDates.com shows you members who are nearby, and those who are online. It tells you when a member was last online, as well as showing you their photos. Many snaps are nudes, so it’s not for the weak hearted. You can also upload extra photos which can be kept secret until someone requests them from you.
Searching is pretty basic, and primarily revolves around sexuality and location. You can find people who are into all sorts of sexual activities, and reading around the profile pages gives you a good idea of who to watch out for if you have a particular desire.
Contacting members is easy enough and can be achieved with a 1 on 1 private message or by entering the site’s chat room. There were people chatting when we logged on, although it seemed a little sporadic, as if some members were shouting into a void. Still, if you log in at the right time then you could have an erotic group chat on your hands.
There are few other features to speak of, and often it felt as though Saucy Dates really wanted you to switch to another site. In fact, you can easily move to one of three other dating sites with a single click. This might not be the worst idea, because we found SaucyDates to be a little clumsy and hard to use. There’s not a lot of text on the site, so you need to rely on understanding simple icons to know what to do. This isn’t so effective for new members, but should be easy enough to get your head around after a little practice.
Our searches didn’t bring up quite as many results as we’d like. In addition, few members seemed to have profile pictures uploaded. This was disappointing and made the site feel quite empty and underdeveloped, not quite as much fun as we were hoping for.
In a competitive market, Saucy Dates really needs to do more to improve the user experience. It has a few decent tools in place, and some active members who ought to whip you into shape, but at the moment it feels like a half finished project. It might be worth joining up – it is free, after all – to see if anyone takes your fancy, but in terms of choice and ergonomics, it’s not ideal.
