I have been a member since 2010 and feel I have definitely gotten my $150 lifetime membership's worth. Yes it is old, slow, and clunky. Yes, no matter where you go there are single guys who thought Ashley Madison was a real thing, people who have signed up and never returned, people who email and then don't show up. That's not just here. That's life.
What I like though is that there are a lot of active couples on there. Most have good profiles and the tools are there to avoid the flakes. Look how long it has been since they've been online. Look for their certifications and weed out the free profiles and you'll be fine.
I especially like the directories of local clubs and party groups. See who is attending and reach out in advance. Many NY Metro groups to choose from. Intimate Parties Group, Deviate, etc all have a presence here. Check out the forums for Key West Fantasy Fest or Mardi Gras. Sign up for a lifestyle cruise or trip to Hedonism. SwingLifestyle helps you dip your toes in the water and keeps you connected.
In summary, I would recommend Swing Lifestyle to a friend.
