Rudester is an online social networking and adult personals site, where hundreds of thousands of members can hook up for sex, relationships and companionship. You can open your own personal profile with Rudester and use the site to communicate with other members in much the same way as you would use Facebook, Bebo or Myspace. This ‘social network’ style of online dating sets Rudester aside from other sites we have reviewed (all of which use a ‘homepage’ style of dating, where profiles are simply adverts for individual users), so we were interested to see how Rudester worked..
As with other social networking sites, Rudester members open their own profile, complete with profile photo, personal details, ‘about me’ information, photo albums and more. Members can contact you by searching for specific features or traits in the site’s search engine and then drop you a line by writing a message to post on your profile. Once you have found someone you like, you can ‘add’ them as a friend, so that information about them and a direct link to their profile appears when you log into your own profile. As well as this basic form of contact, members can also take part in blogs and discussion boards (both of which are lively and attract a lot of users), join groups to meet other members with shared interests and take part in polls to get to know the wider Rudester community and chat about a number of interesting issues. As with social networking sites, Rudester users can send mail to those they have met on the site, or ‘poke’ them to let them know that they might be interested in meeting up and progressing their relationship further. Finally, Rudester members can also engage in horny video chats with other members (something that definitely isn’t possible on other social networking sites!), a feature that may help in moving a relationship along.
Although Rudester is generally a good (and somewhat unique) choice, there are a couple of things that let the site down. Firstly, we encountered a number of technical problems when we were reviewing the site, not least that on more than one occasion (despite entering valid log-in information) the site would not load our profile. When inside the site we encountered a number of problems with the chat function, which seemed to crash regularly. The other major downside to the site is the cost, which, at $29.95, is a little steep for a site that is relatively unknown within the adult dating market.
All in all, Rudester isn’t a bad option if you fancy opting for something a little different. However, it’s certainly not the cheapest option out there, nor is it the most technically advanced, so we would suggest you check out other sites in our listings before committing to a subscription of any great length.
