is the sister site of IMatchUp.com, a fairly successful site
based in the US. While IMatchUp is focussed around online dating,
HotMatchUp is more sex-orientated in nature and concentrates primarily
on hookups for sex and swinging. The site overall does pretty well, but
the unknown brand means that the membership base is much smaller that
some other sites (notably our highest rated site in this section - AdultFriendFinder.com) and
does little to invite the confidence that is so inherent in other, more
established sites. The site does however promise to be “intimate,
anonymous and uncut”, so we were particularly interested to see if it
lived up to expectations.
One thing that we were a bit disappointed by was the lack of an Instant
Messaging feature on the site. This is a function that most other
dating sites, especially those who charge a monthly subscription fee,
have included and it is a shame not to see it here. We would strongly
suggest that HotMatchUp develop such a function, as it is crucial to
many of our users, and is a feature that is included elsewhere as a
matter of course. By way of some compensation, however, the site does
allow you to publish your ID for your favourite instant messaging site
(such as MSN, AIM, YIM etc) so that other users can contact you using
this address. While this is not preferable for all users, some will
find this a perfectly acceptable alternative.
We found the site’s navigation to be particularly complex and difficult
to work out. Although the site does offer a number of additional
features, we feel that it has lost touch with the basics of
internet adult dating and as a results fails to offer features common
in other sites. While a store, selling a range of HotMatchUp clothing
will appeal to some, we are confident that this is not something that
everyone will be interested in and feel that HotMatchUp should
concentrate upon providing more features to its members so that their
monthly subscription is better value for money. Certainly, we were
shocked when we were refused the possibility of upgrading our
membership because the site is unable to take any more premium
members. We hope that this is a limited problem, but it certainly does
not invite a great deal of confidence in the service and its ability to
support a growing consumer base.
It was extremely difficult to discover information regarding the cost
to upgrade, as it was not readily published on the site. When we
finally did, we were again a little disappointed as we felt that, for
the cost of membership, users would be far better advised to use one of
our higher rated sites and save their money. As a final point of note,
McAfee internet security have reported that problems regarding spyware
and adware are endemic with the use of HotMatchUp, and so we would
advise our users to take this into consideration when thinking about
joining the site. If you are put off by this, try out our top rated
